Center of Performing Arts MITOS

The Center of Performing Arts MITOS is a non profitable organization, created by Elena Agathokleous and Lukas Walewski in 2007. It is situated at OLD VINEGAR FACTORY, a former traditional vinegar manufacture, near the Medieval Castle of Lemesos. The maintenance and gradual restoration of this space is, at present, undertaken by the members of MITOS. The activities of the Centre are operating on two axes. The foremost is the theatrical research and practice, carried out by the theater group ΜΙΤΟS. The research is powered by texts, songs, myths, testimonies of different sources and traditions. Of outmost importance is to seek for the form, exploring the qualities of the instruments of voice and body, in order to better serve the idea and the material of each performance. The second axe concerns other illustrative arts, such as polymorphic shows, happenings, exhibitions, concerts, installations , experimental movies, etc. In order to further promote the activities mentioned, as well as for educational and informational purposes, MITOS has in view the creation of an audiovisual archive and library, organizing of conferences, projections and seminars - presented by people specialized in the domain of Performing Arts.
