Business Details
The Cyprus International Businesses Association was established on 31 December 1992, following the initiative of a number of businessmen, who had answered the calls of the siren to move their international activities to Cyprus and to enjoy an interesting package which included the Mediterranean climate, the relaxed atmosphere, the easy immigration policies and the interesting tax regime. By then several hundreds of companies with foreign shareholders had opened fully fledged offices, without however being able to rely on the support of any association to safeguard and/or protect their interests. CIBA is a non-governmental independent association, financed by membership fees only. Its daily activities and initiatives are organised and carried out by its General Secretary and an Executive Committee of maximum 12 persons of which 8 necessarily have to emerge from member companies. The office and administration are managed by an Assistant General Secretary. The members of the Executive Committee are volunteers and do not receive any compensation for their time, efforts, transportation or telephone expenses. The executive committee is elected by the members and meets once a month.
